The Lowertown Group was contracted to create the interactive touch screen kiosk. The touch screen program needed to be highly visual, responsive, animated and fully updateable via the internet. The touch screen look and feel was done using 3D and traditional graphics. We used huge highlight areas on the touch screen to give visual response to the user and create a touch screen system that is as intuitive as possible.

Creating an accessible administration area for the touch screen kiosk was made challenging by the fact that this kiosk would be driving across the countryside. We opted to set up the touch screen kiosk like a secure web server. We used a RAD (rapid application development) solution for feeding the touch screen kiosk the dynamic information for the on-board database. An administrator can login to the touch screen locally or use a utility to capture the kiosks current IP address being fed by satellite. They can then give the IP to an offsite administrator who can login via the internet and update content on the touch
screen remotely.
