The Performance Power is in YOU                                               

Over the last 30 years, I have been fortunate to share experiences with teammates, competitors, coaches, sport scientists, collegiate athletes, professors, Olympic level performers, and amateur athletes from around the world. Their memories and mentoring made it clear to me that passion and desire fuel performance power.

Coaching is my passion and my mission. I go to practices and races almost every week of the year, because I love to watch people train, gain confidence, extend their mindpower, achieve their goals, and live life with vigor.

 

Finding the Performance Power in YOU                           

P2 training plans and P2 training sessions are designed to help you discover your physical and mental performance power. I blend the right mix of team and solo training with challenging and epic training venues, so that you gain the race-specific fitness, self-awareness, and confidence that you need to achieve your finish line goals. Your training plan will be designed by a coach who has experience as an elite runner and triathlete, NCAA head coach, sport psychology Ph.D. candidate, and USA Olympic Training Center head coach.

I believe that the performance power that you need to reach your next finish line is in YOU. I formed the P2 TEAM so that Twin Cities runners and triathletes could train the way the best athletes in the world train:

  • follow a training plan that is designed by an elite coach
  • go to event-specific training sessions that are guided by a coach
  • train with highly focused, motivated, and supportive teammates
  • share eye-to-eye information and feedback with your coach

 

P2 Team Training Sessions: Coach Matt is at practice with you

At St. Olaf and Macalester Colleges, at the Olympic Training Center, and at P2 Team practices, I have witnessed the power of athletes training in groups, under the watchful eye of a coach. When you know that your teammates and coach will be at practice, your levels of accountability, motivation, focus, and mental toughness are all elevated.

P2 Team training sessions are based on the P2 plan, and they are guided by coach Matt. When you come to a P2 session, you can expect to share invigorating energy with teammates who love to work hard for their goals. We have fun, we train hard, and we support our teammates.

 

The P2 Team Culture:  a tradition since 2002

Our P2 Team shares positive energy, trains hard, and expects success. We go to weekly practices because we know we will see our coach, train with our committed teammates, and finish the epic workouts that will help us achieve our goals. Our Team trains year-round: outside, inside, and with passion and spirit. We affirm and inspire each other as we extend our musclepower and mindpower.

 

Who is on the P2 Team?

The P2 team consists of women and men ages 18 to 65, who range in experience from first time triathletes and runners, to elite wave marathoners and ironman triathletes. You will always find a P2 teammate at practice who will be swimming, biking, and running at your training pace.

The P2 Coaching Philosophy                                       

Your performance power is discovered and extended during training sessions when your coach and teammates are present. Together you share the passion, spirit, desire, eye contact, and epic workouts that boost your confidence and race day performances.

The P2 training system is based on my studies of endurance training and sport psychology, my discussions with NCAA and Olympic coaches, and my 20 years of applied coaching practice.

I am confident that you will be successful when you follow a P2 training plan, because I have witnessed the performance enhancing effects of my system on the amateur, collegiate, and international levels.

 

The P2 PIT

Our Team´s home base is the P2 PIT in downtown St. Paul. We bike indoors at the PIT. We run the indoor skyways from the PIT. We meet at the PIT before running and biking outside UP and down the hills, stairs, and river roads of greater St. Paul. The PIT provides access to the epic training routes that you need to extend your performance power.
